Cabin
Last weekend we headed to the mountains and it was one of my favorite cabin trips of all time. The kids had been excited all week, chanting “cabin!” at the breakfast table and packing their backpacks during quiet time.
The bigger they get, the more they explore out in the woods on their own. Here’s Ronan excitedly finding his favorite spot in the forest, “Lizard Rock,” where he found a blue-belly lizard sunning himself almost 3 years ago.
And Austin on her “lizard rock” at the top edge of the forest.
The kids spent one afternoon with their cabin buddies, building their own “kiddo campfire”– piling rocks, collecting pinecones and arranging everything just so. They ate lunch in the woods, climbed rocks, threw rocks and had a great time all together. Meanwhile, the parents enjoyed some quiet in the cabin. If this is the future of cabin trips, sign me up!
