Summer afternoon

Ahhh, an afternoon of calm around here.

We’ve had more activity this summer than I’d expected, and this has caused one of our little people to be more rambunctious and chaotic and conflictual than normal.  This afternoon we filled up the inflatable pool and Ronan and Austin played happily outside for a few hours on their own– peaceably, mind you.  The kids were sharing and doing jobs that the other did not want to do, laughing at each other’s jokes and just playing, playing.  

Today was Ronan’s turn to cook for the family and he delighted in his role and his creations.  Corny corn cakes, bright pink fruit dip, homemade peanut butter and fresh petals to decorate the table, of course.

This afternoon was a good reminder for me that in the world of all things children, less is generally more.
