projects

Not much has changed around here– Ronan is still into his projects.  One day at school, he decided to make me a pair of earrings at the design table.  He was so excited to give them to me that he waited up in his bed until I came home and grinned from ear to ear when I told him about the beautiful creation I found downstairs.  I wore them around town the next day and you could not have found a more proud child!IMG_1803 (1)

Maybe more of a gift giving extravaganza than a project, Ronan raced through Whole Foods this particular morning, giving out a sticker to everyone he came in contact with.

I wrote this reflection after watching Ronan in the supermarket:

Watching Ro interact with total strangers today at the grocery store, I learned much about people by how they received a gift.  He arrived at the supermarket, with a big bag of stickers and a big intention to give them away.  He walked up to each person and asked them if they’d like a sticker.   A few people ignored him or abruptly said no.  But for the most part, there was an incredible opening that I saw happen over and over again.  The recipients were surprised, and then appreciative, and as the interaction continued with Ronan, they became surprisingly more pleasant and human.  Three or four grumpy people told Ronan that it made their day and as he buzzed around the grocery store, chest puffed out and huge smile on his face, I felt like i was “seeing” people in a whole different way, in a way that only a child can usher me into, with his bag full of stickers.
