Playing Around

Earlier this week, Ronan and Austin decided to throw a “leaf party” for our friends.  Ronan held the collection bucket while the team searched for as many different kinds of leaves as they could find.  We made leaf cookies, and the girls decided to dress up in princess costumes, which I’m sure somehow fits into the theme in their minds.

Austin cracks me up.  A princess with an 80’s neon headband.  Jane Fonda would be proud.

Ronan and I go to a science class on Tuesday mornings while Austin is at school.  This particular morning we learned about reptiles and the differences between tortoises and turtles.  The kid shines in this kind of learning environment and it is fun to watch his curiosity come to life.

With children in hand, I often times see things that have been around me all the time, but that I’ve never really noticed.  Take this giant egg, for example. It’s been at the corner of University and Emerson for years, but this particular morning, we spent time learning about all the circuit boards that cover it and the different wiring configurations.  There seems to be a whole world to explore just in the few blocks around us!
