Spring Break

April 4th, 2012 by mica
It is nice to have a string of unhurried mornings at the house.

A fun morning at Shoup park, fishing out plastic easter eggs from the creek with long sticks.  I like seeing the games that the kids come up with.  I think easter eggs must rank in the top-3-most-used-toys-of-all-time at our house.

And last, but not least, a posting of our house rules at Guinda.  Since child number one is a lover of rules, I thought it would be fun to sit down with him and hear what he thinks should be the law of our home.  With the exception of “no name calling,” here are the rules that Ronan came up with– in his own words.  Pretty comprehensive, I think:

A short story to verify that he takes rule #7 very seriously.  He often pulls out items from my bathroom trash can (I know, it’s gross).  Usually it is the toilet paper roll or a lotion container that isn’t fully used or should be recycled.  Today he confiscated a sock.  Here’s how the conversation went, more or less:
Ronan: “What’s this doing in the trash?”
Mica: “It has a hole in it.”
Ronan: “It can be reused.  Look, it can be a hat for a doll or a container for treasures.”
Mica: “Good point.”
He will soon be available for in-home consultations on waste reduction and reclaimed materials.
