Escape

Last weekend, Gentry and i set out in search of an adventure– sans kids. We left from the cabin and stumbled upon this trail at Highlands Lake– complete with wildflowers and a rushing stream.

Before reaching the lakes, we discovered Tryon meadow, with its old barn and amazing, rustic cabins.

We’re still trying to figure out how we can sign up for this one:)

Further down the road, we hiked toward Kinsey Lakes (Kinsey reservoir below).

And found snow– yes, at the end of August!

Back at Alpine Lake, enjoying the last of the evening light.

We are endlessly grateful to my parents, who at a moment’s notice, generously care for our children. As if that weren’t enough, the Packards continue to support us with childcare as well so that we might be able to get away. Many thanks to all!
