Hot Dog Theater

July 14th, 2010 by mica
Last week we headed to a performance of Robinhood at the Hot Dog Theater in Palo Alto. A friend invited us last minute and we packed up our blanket and snacks for an adventure.

Ronan was pretty excited about the brownies for sale at the show.

Shots of Baby Austin during her first “cultural” experience.

Well, as you might have guessed, we made it through about 15 minutes of the performance. We joined the land of chatty, small children in the big lawn behind the show. Ronan proceeded to spend the next hour peeling bark from the trees.

On the way out of the performance, we got a flat tire on the stroller. Who knew that walking the four blocks home could take over an hour? But it was a joyous hour. Ronan walked a few steps and picked up a rock, flower, branch and shouted “a treasure!” My hands became the bucket for his bounty.

And here he is back home, showing off some of what he found en route.

With kids, it seems that everything really is an adventure. I never would have guessed that trip to see Robinhood would entail loads of peeling bark and picking up small treasures along the sidewalk. I love my boy’s curiosity and the way in which he observes and engages with the natural world around him.
