Beginnings of December

A window into our world these past few weeks…
There’s nothing like empty Amazon boxes to provide hours of entertainment. After elaborate building projects in Ronan’s room, it was time for to engage in some destructive bowling:)
Ronan’s continues in his creative pursuits. He’s been working on a game called “Path” that challenges players to make it through increasingly complex mazes without backtracking over lines. He’s not shy about introducing his game and I’ve seen the front desk employees in San Francisco working it through, strangers in the backseat of Uber rides and Gentry’s whole team at Aspen!
He spent much of November at school working on an elaborate story centered around Clavis and his travails in the world. The class learned about Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey and it was fun for me to recognize this familiar story arc in Ronan’s novel.
Austin continues to spend much of her free time in artistic and creative endeavors. Here she’s working on the wrapping for Ronan’s birthday present, decorating each side of the paper with a different theme.
She took my raw supplies and made a beautiful holiday centerpiece at our table at Byrne. Her artistic eye places things “just so” and beautifully just so.
Austin has been working on her wish list for Christmas. I will hold onto this relic of a 6 year-old’s desires and wanted to share with you all:
We’re having our fair share of challenges around bedtime and getting-out-the-door-for-school-time. We’re trying our best as parents to understand the dynamics at play and do what we can to make mornings and evenings peaceful and enjoyable for everyone. Austin worked on some cards as we try to solidify more of a consistent routine.
Friends continue to be of utmost importance to Austin. I was able to accompany her on her class field trip on Friday and it was sweet to watch her and her friends giggle together, tell jokes and be so genuinely excited to be together.
Hope you all have a wonderful start to your week!
