Time away
July 2nd, 2015 by mica
With a full support crew of Gentry, Nana, Baba and Becky, I was enthusiastically pushed out the door by my two children, to head out of town for a little getaway. Lucky me:)
I wandered to southern california and spent a few days in Ojai. I loved this outdoor, open-air bookstore and the friendly, small town feel of the city.
I spent a night at a beautiful retreat center in the hills above Los Angeles, a place I first learned about through the autobiography of Josephine Duveneck. It was incredibly peaceful and quiet, and I enjoyed the chance to slow down, read, rest, write and make new friends. My last night was in a tipi in Topanga, a little artsy enclave just outside of Los Angeles. Here’s the view from inside!
It was a gift for me to have the chance to get away, to find rest, new adventures and clarity as to what’s ahead.
I came home to my wonderful family and this pile of love from Austin!
We spent a night together in San Francisco, just the two us, eating out at a restaurant, people and dog watching and enjoying the general energy of the city. It is fun to watch her magic at work with new friends and I couldn’t imagine a better travel companion in the city!
Thanks to all of the people who helped me get away and gave Ronan and Austin such a special week!
