The goats have come! There is nothing like waking up and seeing and hearing 400 goats in your back yard. I love the city’s fire prevention strategy.
Ronan’s class visited a Senior Center in San Jose. He had the ladies rolling in laughter as he bowed to them.
Austin’s class is continuing their in-depth study of plants. It’s ended up being a wonderful, year-long project, fueled by the children’s interest. It’s amazing how much she has learned! The other day she was telling me about phylum tubes and the life cycle of plants.
Ronan’s class is similarly in the midst of an inquiry about plant life. Seeing the deterioration of the redwoods at ventana, they are learning about how to help the trees on campus thrive. The class has come up with an ambitious initiative and have visited each classroom at school, educating the children on the ideal conditions for redwoods and discussing their plan.Part of the plan involves planting certain species at the base of the redwoods, such as huckleberry and redwood sorrel, that contribute to mutual growth. Yesterday, the kids were filmed for the Bay Area Proud segment on NBC! It will air tonight (Thursday) at 5pm. It will also be online Friday at http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Bay-Area-Proud-143722356.html
