Looking back…

Many sweet moments from the last week.  Snuggling with my munchkins, early morning at the Sky Palace:2015-01-25 07.31.07

Breakfast out in San Francisco.  Perhaps Austin’s favorite things all in one— food + restaurant + city + family

Ronan worked on designing word hunts and other puzzles.

Austin colored.  See if you can find the triple sets of polka dots:)

Later that Sunday, we put on a brunch for the members of Christ Episcopal Church, thanking them for all their contributions to Ventana School.  Although initially reluctant, Ronan ended up taking his serving responsibilities very seriously and made sure that everyone at his table had enough bread, fruit, salad and everything else they wanted.  Austin was overjoyed to be a part of the activity and set aside her favorite white dress for the event.  She smiled and graciously and kindly served everyone at her table.

The kiddos took a break from their work to enjoy some lunch.

After the brunch ended, in an always surprising but typically Ronan way, he ran up to this elderly lady in the parking lot.  Without any instruction or prompting, he crouched down to her level so that she could see him and struck up a conversation about the brunch.  Sometimes I forget, but Ronan has a very natural style of relating to those I might consider the “least,” the homeless, the elderly in their last stages of decline.  It was heartwarming for me to watch his pure desire for connection.

Nana, as always, stepped in to help with the kids while I took a much needed break to San Francisco.  Here she is with Austin and her buddy at swim lesson.  I’m grateful for the ease with which I leave and recharge!
