First Day
School has begun! Here are some early morning shots of our resident 1st grader:
And eager preschooler:
Both kids started at Ventana this morning. Yes- two kids, one school. Yahoo!
One of the things that I love about Ventana is the accessibility of art supplies and the simple and uncluttered layout of the space. (I don’t think my art area has ever looked like this!)
It draws you right into creation…
In Ronan’s room, I was glad to hear that there was official (and unofficial) time set aside for tinkering. This is perhaps Ronan’s favorite activity in the world. And when he greeted Austin and I at pick up time, he was excited to gift her with these new binoculars he’d created.
And away we went for ice cream cones to celebrate the end of the first day. Austin could hardly believe that pink bubble gum ice cream was a real thing!
It was a good first day. All parties seem happy and thoroughly exhausted. I am proud of Ronan and Austin, who were both very articulate about their fears of starting a new school, and who showed up and made it through. And I feel fortunate to have landed in what feels to be a nurturing, creative and caring school community.
