One thing that I’ve re-learned this weekend– less is more.

After schlepping both kids to a full week of Kindergarten, everybody was exhausted.  This morning we woke up and decided to see how much fun we could have just laying low at the house.  Remarkably and not surprisingly, I guess, it was the most peaceful and pleasant time all week.  We all got into a groove on our separate projects.  The kids read stories, prepared dinner and I caught up on things around the house.  The pace was unhurried and wow do I cherish that after organizing us to get out of the house early every morning.

We even had time to remember Austin’s half birthday, which brought the biggest smile to her face.

Late this afternoon, I took Ronan to HIdden Villa for a class on milking cows.  (And yes, I milked Cleo too).  Ronan was the one kid with fifty billion questions.  How much does the milk weigh?  Why is iodine orange? Why do flies like the cow?  How does the motor work for the pumping machine? It’s always nice when there is a resident expert to answer your kid’s questions for a while.  When he graduates from school, I think I should earn some kind of honorary degree for all that I’m learning along the way:)

Ronan worked hard to trade for this particular teat that was the most prolific in terms of milk production.

Note to self– keep the weekends free and light.  Everyone in our family is much happier with some time to recoup.
