Kindergarten
With the drama of finding a spot in school and a somewhat disastrous pre-school playdate, we have not had the smoothest transition into Kindergarten. But nonetheless, Ronan was so excited for this day to come. Last night he laid in bed for hours, restless with excitement, hoping that it would be morning already. Here he is last night, writing himself a note to tuck away in his backpack for the first day.
All ready with his new backpack, carefully packed with notes from friends and family as well as a very special snack from Seth and Lisa.
Goodbyes from his fan club.
Ronan was delighted that I wore the earrings he made for me last year.
Off we go…
The reports are still coming in from what actually happened during the day. I know that the beginning was very overwhelming with the swarm of parents and kids in the room, but I think things calmed down after we left and the teacher took over. Ronan had a smile on his face when I picked him up, which is a good sign!
When we returned, he unpacked his backpack and displayed all the many notes of love that he’d been carrying around. I chose a few of my favorites to show you, including one that he wrote to himself:
And this amazing note from our neighbor, which cracks me up.
We spent the next half an hour drawing a detailed map of the school– a pretty good way to to try and make sense of a very big and new environment. As Ronan told me yesterday, he is “made of bravery skin” and I salute him for showing up to his first day of Kindergarten.
