Supermarket Showdown

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I put a package of bacon in our grocery cart today. For the rest of the shopping trip, Ronan reminded me “no killing animals!” and urged me over and over to put the bacon back on the shelf. He talked about the picture of the pig on the package and wondered why anyone would kill a cute animal. He became so distraught as we neared checkout that he started balling uncontrollably. I’ll give it to him– the kid has strong moral principles.
We talked about the process of raising and butchering animals, and yes, by the end of the conversation I felt sufficiently persuaded to put that bacon back on the shelf.
