Hard at Play

Ronan is spending a lot of time in outer space these days. Here’s an elaborate spaceship that he made at Nana and Babba’s out of masking tape.
One day, after quiet time, I came into Ronan’s room to see the Universe laid out across the floor. You’ll notice the planets orbiting around the yellow sun (each button or rubber ball was chosen to match the color of each planet), constellations (shiny beads), the Milky Way (elastic band), a black hole (white string) and several asteroids (cardboard pieces). We proceeded to climb the bunk beds (aka rocketship) and blast off for space. Ronan taught me quite a few things about the composition of asteroids and comets. Is it strange that my four year old has already exceeded my knowledge of space?
Focused play at our friend’s house:

Ronan and Austin are officially sharing a room. We bought bunk beds but are having a difficult time convincing anyone to sleep on top! So, Birdie is making the rounds, sleeping in the tent some nights, the travel crib others, and just recently, the large white chair. Here’s Ronan, setting up her bed for the night:
And here’s the happy girl, all snuggled in for the night.
