Love

Ronan has made a very special friend at preschool. Her name is a common utterance around our house and he is so thrilled for the days that he gets to see her. Each morning that he goes to school, he walks to the car with a present in hand for her. Today it was a bag of shells he collected at the beach. (Another parent snapped this shot of the two of them together at school).
I love this age with Ronan. He has such a sweet, tender heart and he really puts it all out there. The other morning he asked me, “how do you measure love?” I said I didn’t really know and he responded back, “I love (her) as much as I have all the love in my heart.”
And this morning on the way to school, he shared “I love (her) as much as 120 pieces of chocolate chips.” For a kid with a serious sweet tooth, that’s really saying something.
This special friendship puts a smile on my face– its innocence, its intensity. I feel like I’m getting glimpses of the profound loyalty and generosity that are part of his character now and a part of the boy/man he will become.

This is the sweetest thing I’ve read in a long time. Adore!
