The Ridge
January 11th, 2012 by mica
Our last night at the cabin we ventured up to the ridge, hoping to see the sunset, but wondering how our chatty 4-year-old who stops to turn over every stone might make the hike to the top.
We were pleasantly surprised to find out that we had a “mountain man” on our hands. He loved using a walking stick, stopping for breaks of water with the camel pak, and most of all, he seemed to really take to the word “mountain man” to proudly describe himself.
And before we knew it, voila, we were at the Ridge!
Taking in the views…
Never missing the opportunity to have a snack, of course.
And the descent home.
Once we found the appropriate motivation, Ronan was all over the hike and I was proud to see that he really could do it and enjoy it. The next morning he announced that he was going to build up the campfire with rocks and stones and prepare it for the next fire. No joke, he was outside on his own for almost two hours working on this project happily. The spirt of the mountain man continued and it was great for all of us:)
